The Rite of Spring

The Rite of Spring's 1913 premiere caused a riot and marked the violent birth of musical modernism. Stravinsky would go on to reinvent himself across six decades — primitivist, neoclassicist, serialist — remaining the most protean composer of the twentieth century.
