Andrea Mantegna
Camera degli Sposi, Dead Christ
The most rigorously classical painter of the Quattrocento. His Dead Christ — foreshortened feet-first toward the viewer — is the most audacious exercise in perspective in all Renaissance painting. The Camera degli Sposi in Mantua is the first fully illusionistic room decoration.
