Fra Filippo Lippi
Madonna and Child — the carnal friar
The Carmelite monk who eloped with a nun — and painted some of the most tender Madonnas of the fifteenth century. His figures have a warmth and humanity that Masaccio's monumental style lacked. Botticelli was his pupil and heir.
