Divan — supreme master of the Persian ghazal
The greatest lyric poet in Persian. His ghazals move between earthly and divine love with deliberate ambiguity. Goethe was so overwhelmed that he wrote the West-Eastern Divan in response. His tomb in Shiraz remains a place of pilgrimage.
